Hi, I'm Carin, the leather worker behind Scarlett Sky.
Making has always been part of who I am. Growing up, my Mum made beautiful clothes for my sisters and me. Being surrounded by creativity sparked a lifelong fascination for making which never really left me.
After studying fashion, I spent many years working as a stylist, designing clothes and creating looks in the music and fashion industries but it wasn't until I discovered upholstery and leatherwork that everything really clicked.
I started making bags simply because I struggled to find a quality leather bag I liked. I loved the process of turning a beautiful piece of leather into something useful that would be carried every day. Before long, friends began asking for bags of their own and Scarlett Sky gradually grew from there.
I'm drawn to simple, thoughtful design and believe that the things we use every day should be both practical and beautiful. My work is all about simplicity, longevity and creating pieces that wear in, not out.
