SO… HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?

Stanley Road Store first opened its doors in December 2015 as part of the Brighton Open House Festival — when artists across Brighton transform their homes into galleries and shops. What started as a creative experiment quickly became something much bigger. It was an instant hit and even shortlisted for Best Open House (more than once!) among nearly 200 houses.

AND THEN ... THINGS MOVED QUICKLY.

Pop-ups, workshops at our HQ (and even on a boat at Brighton Marina!), Valentine’s events, Brighton Festival takeovers — we said yes to ideas, collaborations and a lot of creative energy. It’s always been about community and making space for artists to shine.

WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE LANES.

After a brilliant chapter at 3 Hanningtons Lane, we returned in September 2022 for what was meant to be a three-month pop-up at 54/55 Market Street… and somehow, we’re still here. Turns out, it felt like home.

WHERE ARE WE NOW?

Today, we’re proud to stock work from over 350 artists, makers and independent businesses making us one of the largest independent creative retail spaces of our kind in the area.

And here’s something special: everyone who works in the shop is also an artist or maker whose work is stocked here. We’re not just selling creativity — we’re living it every day.

Open every day from 11–6, hosting workshops , events, and showcasing a constantly evolving mix of incredible talent. We’re busier than ever, growing all the time, and still loving every minute.
