Japanese dolphin Kinshachi statement necklace by Designosaur

Laser cut mythical Japanese dolphin necklace in mirror gold acrylic. Hung from a gold plated curb chain and fastened with a lobster clasp with a designosaur toggle detail.

We traveled to Japan in 2013 and spent almost a month in Nagoya visiting a friend who showed us nearly everything Japan has to offer. Japan is a really incredible country and one that lots of people fall in love with.

We visited Nagoya Castle and on either end of the topmost castle roof are two golden tiger-headed dolphins, called kinshachi (金鯱). This motif was used as a talisman to prevent fires.
